CPD, Lexington Co. investigating three armed hotel robberies - WIS News 10 - Columbia, South Carolina |: "series of armed holdups at Midlands hotels.
The most recent robbery occurred at the Holiday Inn Express on Clemson Frontage Road early Friday morning.
'One of them distracts the front desk personnel by asking for room rates, while another one tries to find identification, then one pulls the gun,' said Lexington County Sheriff James Metts.
Metts says the gun is a semi-automatic handgun and the men are desperate.
'They're not trying to disguise themselves,' said Metts of their desperation. 'People who are committing these crimes are just that daring that they will commit the crime and usually it's for money to get drugs with.'
The men managed to grab $500 from the Marriott Courtyard on Zimalcrest Drive."
