Israeli businessman in his 50s living in Johannesburg, South Africa was murdered over the weekend.

Israeli businessman in his 50s living in Johannesburg, South Africa was murdered over the weekend. South African police have updated Israeli officials on the details of the investigation.'K', an Israeli living in Johannesburg said, "It was an execution. Two gunmen pulled him out of the car he was driving in with his two children and his wife. They shot him five times. This is a scary place. People walk around the streets armed. There is no police here."The Israeli community was shocked by the way the murder was carried out. This case is frightening, in broad daylight, in the middle of town. This is a lawless city, the Wild West."Last month, an Israeli jeweller, Michel Rubnik, was also murdered in Johannesburg, apparently during an armed robbery. The personal security of civilians in South Africa in general and in Johannesburg in particular is very problematic. Police forces in the country are often met with criminals and gangs carrying greater fire power than them. South Africa has been trying to shake off its dangerous image ahead of the opening of the 2010 soccer World Cup games to be held in the country. According to statistics, in the last year the number of murder cases in the country has dropped by 4.7%, but still continues to be one of the highest in the world.

'Bring Me My Machine Gun' 500 youngsters are training in several military boot-camps

500 youngsters are training in several military boot-camps. The FF+ warned that this was a 'volatile sign', noting the growing political unrest in South Africa and noting the great many inciting statements made by ANC leaders such as Ancyl secretary-general Isaac Mahlangu's call for members to 'murder the cockroaches that stand in our way". Incendiary speech and personal abuse have become the languages of discourse of the ANC alliance - and not being nipped in the bud by the leaders
The Natal Witness warned this week that 'this reluctance to act upon that first breach of discipline and good sense may yet cost the ANC dearly. Recent attempts by ANC greybeards to put the genie back in the box have had no effect. That is hardly surprising. As any parent knows, children are adept at reading the subtle clues as to how far they can go. The children of the ANC have read the signals and know that they have an unspoken licence to run riot...' The FF+ also warned that these sort of dehumanising descriptions of political opponents were very reminiscent of similar outbursts over the Hutu-radio stations during the horrible Rwanda genocide in 1994 - and warned that this was the result of 'years of muffled conflict and did not just happen on an impulse, it was well-planned...'ANCYL leader Julius Malema also recently said the group 'would kill for (ANC Party leader) Jacob Zuma..." the FF+ warned in its statement, also noting that Zuma himself is infamous for his incitement to violence by singing 'Bring Me My Machine Gun' at rallies. It's very popular in black SA youth culture, seeing Zuma as 'a revolutionary who will bring the LAND resources back to its indigenous owners'....

Lindani Buthelezi, 30, was believed to be responsible for Wednesday's murder of Kranskop station commissioner Superintendent Zethembe Chonco

Lindani Buthelezi, 30, was believed to be responsible for Wednesday's murder of Kranskop station commissioner Superintendent Zethembe Chonco, ambushed in his car while in a convoy taking suspects to court.Safety, security and community liaison MEC Bheki Cele had last month expressed concern that there were a shadowy band of hitmen behind the taxi violence plaguing the province. Chonco was appointed by Cele to head up the taxi task team, part of the organised crime unit in the province. He was investigating recent taxi violence between KwaDukuza and KwaMaphumulo associations.Members of the police's Operation Greed team, who tracked down Buthelezi, are also investigating the murder of Senior Supt Frans Bothma, murdered in KwaMashu on Tuesday night.Cele said he was aware that a suspect, wanted in connection with Chonco's murder, was killed on Wednesday morning.
"This will not bring back a fallen officer but we will make sure we catch the remaining suspects. Another policeman was killed in KwaMashu on Tuesday night. It is clear that thugs have declared war on police and we will not take it lying down," he said.Cele paid his condolences to the Bothma family.Police sources said they received information that Buthelezi was hiding in a house in Stanger."Two policemen entered the house first, followed by another three officers. Buthelezi ran out of his room and into another part of the house. "When confronted by police he pulled out a gun from a suitcase and fired at two of the officers," the source said. Police returned fire, killing Buthelezi.Buthelezi has been linked to recent taxi violence between the Cato Manor and Chesterville taxi associations and has been described by high ranking investigators as a "dangerous hired-gunman".Last month 10 taxis were shot at, a taxi driver was shot in the arm and a taxi landed on the roof of a house in Dunbar Road, Cato Manor as the two associations fought over taxi routes.
"We know that hitmen were planning to take Chonco out the Friday before he was murdered.""When Chonco arrested two people from the Maphumulo taxi association, the killers knew he would be taking the suspects to court."Chonco was escorting prisoners from Kranskop to the Stanger Magistrate's Court last week when he was ambushed by gunmen hiding at the side of the road. Inspector Mphatheni Khanyile, who was with Chonco, was also shot several times and is in a critical condition in hospital. At least 25 bullets penetrated Chonco's car, which was the last in a convoy of three vehicles heading to court. Police said Chonco managed to kill one of the suspects.Earlier this year, Cele paid tribute to the best crime-fighters in the country, including Chonco, at a ceremony held at the Inkosi Albert Luthuli International Convention Centre." He was highly effective in what he did, as can be seen by the award. "He was one of the best officers South Africa has seen. It wasn't an award that was chosen to be awarded to him by a panel. It came from the people he served," Cele said.Speaking recently about the violence in Cato Manor and Chesterville Cele called for taxi rank security guards to be fired and said they were the cause of violence in the industry. Most recently, the work of Chonco had led to the arrests of a number of suspects in a case where a member of the Empangeni dog unit, Inspector Wayne Saunders, was killed.

Tsenoli (20) appeared in court this week and will remain in custody after being charged with the murder of a 33-year old busdriver of Big Sky near Ficksburg last month. On February 5th the driver was on its way from Qwaqwa to Bloemfontein. Near Fouriesburg the three men got on the bus and pretended to be passengers. According to Mosupa, one man pulled a gun on the driver once the bus had left Ficksburg.

The suspects fled without any money. The crime intelligence unit in Ficksburg and Ladybrand used their dog unit to gather information about the three men and take them into custody at their home in Meqheleng. They appeared in the Ficksburg court on murder charges.
The interrogation has been postponed to April 8th, due to a possible request for bail.

Johan Nel

Johan Nel, 18, was escorted into the building amid heavy security, remanded in custody for a week, and then driven back to prison.
The multiple shooting happened at the Skielik shanty town, about two miles from the family's chicken farm at Tweefontein in the rural North West province.
A man reportedly entered the township with a rifle and walked among the houses, shooting as he went. Some have claimed he said "Kaffir, Kaffir, Kaffir" as he fired.
Moses Clifton, 68, lost his daughter and grandchild in the multiple killing, in which several people were also injured.
"The child and the mother ran out of the house and the boy walked down the road and shot them," he said.
"I hid behind the house with my back against the wall and I heard him reloading his gun. I stayed at the corner watching and then I saw the mother and the child dead in the road.
"I was at court this morning to see this man. My heart is breaking. My child and my grandchild died. He must hang."
Corrie Nel, mother of the accused, insisted that her son was not racist.
"If you knew him, you would know that he did not act rationally," she told the Afrikaans newspaper Beeld.
He had told her: "Mom, something snapped inside me," she added.
Five years ago, aged 14, Nel was convicted of shooting and wounding another black man, who was working as a grass-cutter. His family say he was attacked with a sickle, and had been traumatised by their experiences of crime over the years.
According to some reports his defence at the time was that he mistook the man for a baboon.
