The car involved, a white Honda Civic, apparently pulled up in front of a house where there were some rival gang members. Authorities say a running gun battle ensued.
The car was driven to another spot about ten blocks away, near Baxter Street and Echo Park Avenue.
Officers found the car abandoned with the body of 18-year-old Cesar Frank Guerrero, of Paramount. He was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police.
The victim's father, Cesar Guerrero, told KTLA he had been involved in gangs"
