The partly charred body of graduate Andrea Waddell, 29, was found by firefighters in her Brighton flat last October.
Satellite installer Neil McMillan, 42, from Brighton, denies murder.
The prosecution said Mr McMillan had drunk seven pints of lager before taking a taxi to Ms Waddell's flat. He was 'worked up and angry', they said. It was alleged the pair had sex before he strangled her to death in her bathroom. He then torched her body"
